It was a remarkable and bold decision when Shakiru Seidu, the Publisher of Megaxpression Magazine, celebrated his 50th birthday and also used the occasion to officially declared his interest for the Chairmanship position in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The well attended event, which took place at the HOMAT Mega Hall, Igbogbo, was held on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
In attendance were Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, represented by his Constituency Officer, Ms. Comfort Olafare, Rep. Babajimi Benson, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defense who was represented by Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, Odofin Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo, Hon. (Chief) Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Lagos State, Alhaji Wale Amusa, Chief Executive Officer, HOMAT Schools, Comrade Japheth Odesanya, former Secretary to the Ikorodu LG and aspirant for the lkorodu Local government Chairmanship seat and Comrade Biliamin Olalekan Oba among others.
Speaking at the celebration last month, Shakiru described the occasion as a momentous one which allowed him reflect on the last five decades of his existence and see the need to celebrate.
“Today, as I stand before you on this momentous occasion of my 50th birthday, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and humility. It is a day of reflection, celebration, and above all, acknowledgment of the divine grace that has allowed me to reach this milestone”, he said.
“In these five decades, not only have I aged like fine wine but has also gathered wisdom and experiences that have sculpted a truly extraordinary journey. From the laughter of youth to the wisdom of middle age, each year has added a unique chapter to this incredible story.
“In the journey of life, I have faced challenges that tested my strength and character. The illegal demolition of my multi-million naira completed duplex in May 2022, was a devastating blow. Lives were lost, while some are still grappling with the aftermath. Yet, I stand here, giving thanks to God for His mercy that spared me”, he said.
The celebrant was full of gratitude to his parents, who, alongside the late Simbiat Onasanya, played pivotal roles in shaping his character and values from childhood, as well as his loving wife and children, brothers, sisters, and extended family.
He also reserved a special appreciation for the Odofin of Igbogbo kingdom, Odofin Tajudeen Onasanya whom he described as a guiding force in his life journey, offering him opportunities in banking, politics, and real estate.
He also eulogized Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, former Commissioner and Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, for their trust in him which, according to him, has also opened doors to high political offices and establishment of the MegaXpression magazine.
Others that were given special mention by the celebrant were Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Alhaji Olawale Amusa Homat, Builder Olusesan Daini, Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
Shakiru also recognised Adeboruwa of lgbogbo Kingdom and other monarchs in Ikorodu Division among others.
Meanwhile, declaring his intention to contest for the Chairmanship seat of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Shakiru pledged to bring his diverse experiences in uplifting the council.
“As I announce my intention to serve as the next Chairman of lgbogbo/Bayeku LCDA in 2025, I pledge to bring my diverse experiences as a technocrat and politician to uplift our community. Details of my plans are outlined in my manifesto, and with God’s grace, together, we will achieve greatness”, he pledged.
Also in attendance were Dr. Martins Momoh, Chief Mukaila Onabanjo, Baba Oja, members of Development Platform Ikorodu, Indigenous Committee of Friends Ikorodu Division, OCOSAN 1991/92 Class-Set, Class of 92 Ikorodu Division, G7 APC Advocacy, TMM APC Caucus and APC LGA Exco, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, friends and other Associates.
